History of Linux

 

Linux is a free and open-source operating system that was first created by Linus Torvalds in 1991 while he was a student at the University of Helsinki in Finland. Torvalds initially developed Linux as a personal project, but it quickly gained popularity among other programmers and users. Over time, Linux has grown to become one of the most widely-used operating systems in the world, particularly in servers and other enterprise environments. Additionally, Linux has also become popular in embedded systems, mobile devices, and supercomputers.
